The Humble Co. was one of the first companies to join Humble Group, marking an important milestone in our journey toward sustainability. The company was founded by dentist Noel
Abdayem, now group VP and member of the board, who initially brought the idea of sustainability to oral care with the world’s first bamboo toothbrush, Humble Brush.
Noel’s early leadership and vision gave us a strong foundation, and he now plays a key role as in Humble Group.
How did it all start?
The Humble Co. began in 2013 after Noel’s volunteer work with underprivileged children in Jamaica highlighted two pressing issues: the lack of access to a basic oral care routine in
underserved areas, and the overwhelming amount of plastic waste polluting the environment, especially on the shores and beaches of the island. These concerns inspired him to create a
sustainable alternative, Humble Brush, and to launch a “Buy one, give one” initiative. For every toothbrush sold, The Humble Co. donated one to a child in need, helping underserved
communities around the world. This initiative was born alongside our flagship product, the Humble Brush, now the world’s most sold bamboo toothbrush.
From there, we expanded into a full range of eco-friendly oral care products, always with sustainability and social responsibility at our core.
What has contributed to the success of The Humble Co.?
Our success has come from staying true to our mission of providing high-quality products that are good for both people and the planet. Back then, we didn’t just launch a bamboo toothbrush;
we introduced a movement towards sustainable oral care, with the ripple effects clearly shown on shelves around the world right now.
With a strong focus on innovation and a commitment to giving back, our dedication has resonated with a growing community of conscious consumers.
What’s it like being part of Humble Group?
Joining Humble Group was a natural progression for us. It’s given us access to shared resources and synergies within the group, which has helped us, and other sister companies, grow while maintaining our core focus. The group gives us the flexibility to continue charting our own path while ensuring that we stay true to our mission of being a positive force in the FMCG space.
What’s next for The Humble Co.?
At The Humble Co., we are always looking to innovate. A natural next step for us is to apply the same mentality and strategies we brought into oral
care into other categories. Alongside this, we aim to continually improve our current offering, staying true to our core values and paving a new frontier with an even more holistic approach
to sustainability.
We believe that sustainability in the general view historically have been a lot about emissions, and that that part nowadays is a hygiene factor. Our aim moving forward is taking a more holistic approach to sustainability, all the while we work hard to make as high quality products as possible.
